Imagine yourself in Galilee, Capernaum where Jesus began his journey and recruited his first disciple. Or, imagine listening to the voice of Jesus preaching the sermon on the Mount. Experience the Golden City of Jerusalem, walk the Stations of the Cross on the Via Dolorosa, and reflect on our Lord’s sacrifice for humanity. Stand where Jesus ascended into heaven on the Mt. of Olives. Additionally, our journey takes us to Jordan and the forgotten city of Petra, one of the world’s most famous archeological sites.

Day 1 – May 10, 2022: Departure

Day 2 – May 11, 2022: AKKO & HAIFA
Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, at Ben Gurion Airport, you will be met by your guide and begin your tour of the Holy Land! A short drive up the coast from Tel Aviv, we arrive at Akko, the perfect place to begin your exploration of the Holy Land. For thousands of years, Akko (Acre) has thrived on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. The city was first mentioned in the Bible as part of the tribe of Asher’s inheritance and then reappeared as Ptolemais in the book of Acts. Akko’s impressive harbor was known for centuries as the Gateway to the Holy Land, and here thousands of ships brought international dignitaries, lumber, spices, and other exotic goods. Akko is the best-preserved Crusader city in the country, with its deep-water port, was the Crusaders link with Christian Europe. Here we will admire the views of the impressive crusader fortress, walk on the stone walls overlooking the Mediterranean, and meander through the colorful markets. From here we drive to Haifa, on the Slopes of Mount Carmel. Its mountain top is the home of the “Cave of Elijah.” Atop Mount Carmel is this grotto linked to the prophets Elijah and Elisha. We will also visit a monastery by the name of Stella Maris, Latin for “Star of the Sea” referring to an early title accorded to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Finally, we will arrive at our hotel for check-in, dinner, and overnight. (D)

We make our way to Cana, site of Jesus’ first miracle at the wedding feast; here we invite couples to renew their wedding vows. Proceed to Nazareth where we visit the Basilica of the Annunciation for Mass, then continue to St. Joseph’s Workshop and Mary’s Well. Our next stop is the site of the Transfiguration at Mt. Tabor. We will return to our hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

This morning we begin with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. We will visit a replica of a fishing boat from the time of Christ. Our visit continues to the Mt. of Beatitudes to gain a panoramic view of the Sea of Galilee. We will visit Tabgha where it is believed that Jesus fed the crowd of 5,000. From there we will visit Capernaum where Jesus began his Galilean ministry, visiting the synagogue which dates to the time of Jesus and the site of Peter’s home. We return to our hotel for dinner and overnight (B, D)

Day 5 – May 14, 2022: WELCOME TO JORDAN! MADABA – NEBO
Breakfast and checkout. Today we Cross the Northern border crossing/Sheikh Hussein to Jordan. Welcome to Jordan! We will visit Madeba, “The City of Mosaics,” & Mt. Nebo from which Moses saw the Promised Land before he died. We drive to Petra. Dinner & overnight in Petra (B, D)

Day 06 – May 15, 2022: PETRA SIGHTSEEING
Today we spend our time exploring Petra, one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture. Dinner & overnight in Petra (B, D)

Breakfast and check out. We drive to Allenby Border Crossing (3.5-hour drive); after crossing the Border, we head to Jericho to view the Mt. of Temptation, now home to a Greek Orthodox Monastery, and to see the traditional sycamore tree of Zacchaeus. Then head up to Jerusalem, check-in, dinner, and overnight. (B, D)

Following breakfast, we drive to The Shepherd’s Fields, the location where the Shepherds sited the Star of Nativity before venturing to visit Jesus, then we continue to one of the oldest churches in the world, where it all began; The Church of The Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus. A huge church with a long history of religious significance, you will be able to see the various chapels of the Catholic, Armenian and Greek Orthodox Christians. We will visit the caves and the Grotto of the Manger. Returning to Jerusalem, we stop in Ein Karem where we visit the Church of St. John the Baptist and the Church of the Visitation, then back to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 09 – May 18, 2022: JERUSALEM: MOUNT OF OLIVES & MT. ZION
We begin this day with a ride on the Mt. of Olives, where we gain a panoramic view of the old City of Jerusalem. We visit the place of the Ascension, Pater Noster (commemorating the “Our Father”), Dominus Flevit, (where Jesus wept over Jerusalem), and the Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane. In the afternoon we will visit Saint Peter in Gallicantu on Mt Zion. Pending available time, we visit the Church of the Dormition of Our Lady, and the Upper Room, commemorating the Last Supper, back to our hotel for dinner and the evening. (B, D)

After breakfast, we depart the Old City of Jerusalem through St. Stephen’s Gate to visit the Crusader Church of St. Anne, the best-preserved Crusader church in Jerusalem, marking the traditional site of the home of Jesus’ maternal grandparents, Anne and Joachim, and the birthplace of the Virgin Mary. We observe the nearby The Ecco Homo (“Behold the Man”) Arch, located at the beginning of the Via Dolorosa. Tradition holds that this was where Pontius Pilate pronounced judgment on Jesus. Then we gather at the Antonia Palace to walk the Via Dolorosa, the Way of the Cross or the Way of Suffering, where nearly 2000 years ago Jesus of Nazareth carried his cross to his crucifixion. We conclude the Via Dolorosa at the site of Calvary for Mass at the Crusader’s Chapel in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We take a moment here to reflect on the sorrows of Jesus and to repent our own sins. And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” We enjoy a guided tour of the Holy Sepulcher and the Empty Tomb. The rest of the day is free to explore on your own. Back to our hotel for dinner and the evening. (B, D)

Our first stop is at the little village of Bethany, on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives about 3km from Jerusalem. It was a favourite place of rest and refuge for Jesus. Here he knew the friendship of his friends Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. And here, in the cemetery just below the village, he raised Lazarus from the dead. We continue through the Jordan Valley where Jesus walked with His disciples; we stop at the baptismal site on the banks of the Jordan River, Qasr al-Yahud. Thereafter we stop in Qumran, the site of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. We stop to view the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, with an optional swim in the salty water. Then head up to Jerusalem, check-in, dinner, and overnight. (B, D)

After our breakfast in the morning, we take some time to pack and get ready for our evening flight.
Today is our last touring day in the Holy Land. We will drive to the village of Emmaus. This village was the setting for one of the most touching of Christ’s post-resurrection appearances. After Jesus’ resurrection, two men (one of them named Cleopas) were walking from Jerusalem to a village called Emmaus (Luke 24:13, 18). The men did not recognize Jesus when he appeared to them and began walking with them on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:14-16). Here we visit a church dedicated to this event.

Then, we will be driving to the modern city of Tel Aviv. We will enjoy a tour of the city by bus. Finally, we arrive in the biblical town of Joppa known today as Jaffa. Peter came to Joppa from Lydda to raise Tabitha (Dorcas) from the dead (Acts 9:36-42). While in Joppa, the apostle stayed at the house of Simon the Tanner. When Peter was praying on the roof, he had a vision of a large sheet filled with animals being lowered from heaven (Acts 9:43–10:23), signaling to him to go with the messengers from Cornelius, a centurion in the Roman army. The Church of St. Peter marks the traditional site of Peter’s vision of the great sheet. (A farewell dinner in Jaffa – optional) and drive to Ben Gurion Airport.
