Magic Kenya Tour 2022 with Mombasa Beach Extension(optional but highly recommended)
Day 1: Sunday, depart from Toronto Pearson International Airport Terminal 1. You’ll be aboard Ethiopian Airlines 787 Dreamliner, or Airbus 350, or Boeing 777 for a non-stop flight to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with connections to Nairobi, Kenya. Enjoy onboard meals, both North American and Ethiopian, drinks, entertainment, and friendly Ethiopian hospitality.
Day 2: Monday, Karibu (welcome)! Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport, your Volare Vacations Canadian representative will greet you with our traditional and unique welcome. You will be presented with hot/cold towels, bubbly, an authentic safari hat, and souvenirs. Our driver will load your bag on the land cruiser and then proceed to your hotel (Ole Sereni or alternative luxury hotel) where you will have lunch and relax until supper time. In the evening, you will be driven to a famous restaurant (Carnivore) where you will have dinner. The restaurant is set in attractive tropical gardens and is “Africa’s finest eating experience”. The restaurant is famous for its succulent steaks, barbecue dishes, and four choices of game meats roasted over charcoal. The restaurant also offers a vegetarian menu. After dinner, you will return to your hotel for an overnight stay. Lunch & Dinner is included.
Day 3: Tuesday, following breakfast on Tuesday, you will visit the Daphne Sheldrick’s Animal Orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum, and Giraffe Centre. The orphanage is open from 11am to 12pm each day and is located approximately 8 kms from the city centre. It is set in the Nairobi National Park. The orphanage gives you a rare opportunity to come close to baby elephants. We will then proceed to a tour of the Karen Blixen Museum situated at the foot of Ngong Hills. The Museum was originally the home of Karen Blixen of “Out of Africa” fame. Next is a visit to the Giraffe Educational Centre, part of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife. You will be invited to feed a herd of Rothschild’s giraffes which are an endangered species. After a luscious lunch you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Ole Sereni or an alternative luxury hotel. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is included.
Day 4: Wednesday, following breakfast, the driver/guide will load your bag aboard the 4 x 4 land cruiser and head north towards Samburu Game Reserve. We arrive at the intimate Samburu Shaba camp or alternate luxury camp to a warm welcome, lunch, and afternoon drive for game viewing. The Samburu region is the best place to find several endemic northern species: the gerenuk (twiga gazelle), the beisa oryx, the reticulated giraffe, the Somali ostrich, and the Grevy’s zebra. Samburu is also an ornithological paradise, home to many birds including local species such as the palm nut vulture and the vivacious dove. Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay at the Sarova Shaba Game Reserve. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is included.
Day 5: Thursday, enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing in both Samburu and Buffalo Springs game reserves where leopards are often seen at dusk. The Samburu culture is a truly fascinating one, as it shares a great deal of ancestral and linguistic ties to the Masai. The entire Samburu region is a place of breathtaking and magical beauty. Imagine a deep red sunset silhouetting the doum palms along the river as a leopard emerges to hunt; a perfect end to a day on safari. Relax overnight at the Sarova Shaba camp or alternative luxury camp. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is included.
Day 6: Friday, following breakfast, we set off to Aberdare National Park arriving at Aberdare Country Club for Lunch. Afternoon transfer to your overnight Tree Lodge (The Ark) built deep in the forest. Enjoy game viewing at the floodlit water hole and salt lick from the comfortable lounge areas or from your room. At any time of the night, you may see savannah elephants, rhino, cape buffalo, bush bucks, giant forest hogs, sykes monkeys, leopards, and the rare bongo. A ground-level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes you closer than you would believe possible to the wildlife. A warm jacket/sweater is highly recommended. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is included.
Day 7: Saturday, following breakfast, we depart for Lake Nakuru National Park with a brief stop at the Thompson’s Falls for a breath-taking view of the great scenery. After a hardy bunch, we enjoy a game viewing drive. The environment here is welcoming and one of the best places to relax, unwind and enjoy nature’s beauty. The scenery is breathtaking! You will visit the baboon cliff, the lion hill, and the Mau Escarpment. The Park is one of the best game viewing parks with various animal species including pride of lions, Cape buffalo, waterbucks, warthogs, the endangered Rothschild giraffes, the black and white rhinos, the Burchell’s zebra, impalas, and the elusive leopard among many others. This area is a bird watcher’s paradise with over 300 species. Overnight will be at Lake Nakuru Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or an alternative luxury lodge. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are included.
Day 8: Sunday, following breakfast, you will drive to Lake Naivasha with its commanding setting at the foot of the Great African Rift Valley Escarpment. Lake Naivasha is an important horticultural area of Kenya, famous for its teeming diverse bird species, scenic climate, and tranquillity. Enjoy lunch at the lodge and an afternoon of relaxation at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge. Take a boat ride and a visit to the crescent island for a guided walking safari on the eastern side of the lake that is also home to Masai giraffe, zebra, dik diks, steenbok, impala, and gazelles. It is quite liberating to walk among the giraffe and zebra with no fences or barriers between you and the animals. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are included.
Day 9: On Monday, after early morning breakfast, we drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game viewing along the Kenyan Rift Valley. We arrive at the Sarova Mara Tented Camp or similar in time for lunch. After lunch and relaxation, we explore the rolling plains and grassland, stretching far into the horizon. This is home to the black-maned lion, the Savannah elephants, the Cape buffalo, wildebeest, the elusive leopard, cheetahs, the spotted & striped hyenas, and many more. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is included.
Day 10: Tuesday after breakfast we depart for a full day of game drive, on the lookout for the Big 5: lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rhino. We return for lunch and after which we visit a Masai Manyatta. A traditional Masai Manyatta (off the beaten track) and experience the culture of this world-famous community. The Masai still live as they did for centuries, interact with these nomadic people, and experience their way of life as you learn about their customs and traditions. In the evening we will enjoy a private garden dinner under the stars. Overnight at the Sarova Mara Tented Camp or alternative luxury camp. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is included.
Day 11: Wednesday after breakfast you have free time, then enjoy a drive to Nairobi. After lunch, we bid farewell to Nairobi, Kenya with final photographs and fond memories. You will fly on Ethiopian Airlines to Toronto via Addis Ababa. Breakfast and Lunch are included.

Day 11: Wednesday, transfer to the Nairobi International Airport for your short flight to Mombasa, a city on the Indian Ocean and the second largest city in Kenya. Upon arrival in Mombasa at Moi International airport you will be met by our Volare Vacations representative and transferred to Serena Beach Hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Dinner is included.
Day 12: Thursday, after breakfast, proceed to explore the city of Mombasa. The diversity of Mombasa is remarkable, making the city unlike any other in Kenya, with a unique cultural blend of Africans, Arabs, and Asians representing many religious beliefs, including Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, and Hindu. Touring the city not only allows you to see the architecture and learn about the various cultures, but you will gain a deeper understanding of the historical foundations of ethnic diversity. The first stop is Fort Jesus, which was built in 1593 based on a design by an Italian architect and engineer named Joao Batista Cairato. Originally used by the Portuguese, the imposing structure rests upon a coral ridge at the entrance of the old town harbor, and its strategic location has resulted in many battles for its control. Your guide will lead you into the alleys of Old Town, the original Mombasa city that was built in the 13th century and still maintains many significant architectural features of the time, such as filigree timber balconies, beautiful carved wooden doors, Indian and colonial designs, and more than 20 Mosque. In 1985, the area received protected status as a conservation project to preserve the historically significant buildings. You will then transfer to your hotel for late lunch. The rest of the day at leisure at Serena Beach Hotel. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 13: Friday, spend the day at leisure enjoying the white sandy beach and sunshine at your resort hotel. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 14: Saturday, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before being transferred to the Moi International airport in Mombasa for your return flight to Canada with Ethiopian Airlines. Breakfast and Lunch are included.
